You may wish to download mods but there are no essential mods for this game. No patches, updates or downloading additional content required. With the Jedi Order in ruin, the Republic’s only hope is a lone Jedi struggling to reconnect with the Force. STAR WARS Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is a sequel to the blockbuster RPG STAR WARS Knights of the Old Republic. Five years after the events from the award winning Star Wars® Knights of the Old Republic, the Sith Lords have hunted the Jedi to the edge of extinction and are on the verge of crushing the Old Republic. You cannot do everything in a single playthrough as there are several key choices which close off some paths and open others. If you are concerned about missing anything there are a number of fairly decent walkthroughs online but I woul suggest you play without one first and simply be patient, explore thoroughly and make sure to talk to every named NPC you find. Once you start on the final section you cannot go back to the middle section locations and cannot go back to a previous area in the end game once you have moved on. The middle section allows you to move freely between the various planets so you can usually go back and do stuff you have not yet completed (but not always).

As you pass through the initial section, when you complete an area and move to the next you cannot go back. There are no online features for either game.Īs for unrevisitable areas, both games follow a similar format, a linear initial section followed by a section in which you can visit several planets in any order you choose followed by a linear final section.

Further, as the original release was rushed and a lot of planned content got cut, it is pretty much essential to install the restored content mod, TSLRCM, to play Kotor 2. It also has some tidying up and optimising for modern systems (so it requires a higher computer spec than the original). I also liked being able to train your party members to become Jedi. This version (which is the default on Steam although you can revert to the original release) has support for modern resolutions so offers widescreen, a workshop for mods (although you can still download and install mods from websites) and Steam achievements. Yes the first game had the classic feel which was nice, but II approached the force from an angle we hadn't seen before, and how the path of the light isn't necessarily always right (Kreia's quote of doing more harm with an open hand than a clenched fist).

Where 2 gets a little more complicated is that the Steam version (and only the Steam version) got an update a few years ago.

Again you can get a complete, up to date, version of the original release on GOG or Steam. If you get an up to date version of Kotor 1, either GOG or here on Steam, then you get everything.
